Location
The project is located on Wadawurrung Country, approximately 19 km east of Geelong and 8 km south-west of Inverleigh. The project is situated in the suburb of Gnarwarre and is within the local government area of the Surf Coast Shire Council.
The battery facility will cover approximately 5 hectares of private rural land currently used for cropping and grazing. The site will be leased from the landowners via a long-term lease agreement and reverted to pasture at the end of the project’s life.

Remoteness
The project is well setback from surrounding public roads and residences. It is located within a broader thoroughbred stud farm and amongst properties used for cattle grazing and cropping.

Low level of environmental impact
The site has been largely cleared and disturbed by previous land uses, meaning the project will minimise impacts on native flora and fauna.

Avoiding the best Agricultural Land
The site involves land currently used for grazing. The site will be fenced.

Level terrain
The land is largely flat, reducing visual impacts and allowing for cost effective construction.

Proximity to the National Grid
The adjacent transmission line has capacity to import and export energy through construction of a switching yard.

Excellent Transport Links
The site is well connected to the State Road network.
